In the UK a standard sized super king bed measures 6ft wide by 6ft 6in long (182cm x 200cm). It’s a super spacious choice and one that’s perfect for couples who both like to spread out. 

There’s plenty of choice when it comes to the different bed types that are available on the market. But generally speaking, the most popular types of super king beds are bed frames, divan beds and ottoman beds. 

Bed frames are usually made out of wood or metal and are often a more traditional choice. They’re more often than not standing on four legs which elevate the bed frame which features slats running across the width of the bed to support the mattress. 

Divan beds are a popular choice due to the storage space they provide within the drawers that are integrated into the bed base itself. They’re perfect for storing smaller items such as books, underwear and folded bedding. 

As an alternative, ottoman beds offer even more storage space, especially when it comes to super king size beds due to the increased footprint of the bed. The storage space is situated within the bed base and it’s easily accessed via a lifting mattress platform. 

All these types of beds are available in a variety of styles, designs and sizes too if you change your mind and require a smaller bed. 

Whilst a super king bed has often been quoted as the largest bed size available in the UK, there is actually a bigger bed size available on the market. Emperor beds as they are known, measure 7ft by 7ft (200cm x 200cm) and provide a wider and longer bed than a super king. However, they aren’t commonly available, so you may find it more difficult to acquire one and due to their sparsity, they may be much more expensive.

Whilst you don’t ‘need’ bigger pillows for a super king bed, it’s certainly recommended that you invest in bigger pillows so as to not roll your head off your pillow as you roll over in bed. Super king pillows measure 50cm x 90cm so they provide 15cm more width when compared to regular pillows.
