Small single beds measure 2 feet 6 inches wide by 6 feet 3 inches long (2’6” x 6’3”) which equates to 75cm wide by 190cm long. They are the perfect size for your child’s first bed after using a toddler bed or for visiting friends to stay over. 

You’ll find plenty of options to choose from when it comes to small single beds on the market, but generally speaking the most popular bed types available in that size are bed frames and beds with storage space such as a divan or ottoman bed. 

Bed frames are often constructed from wood or metal and provide a more ‘traditional’ look. The bed base is often elevated on four legs and the base features slats to support the mattress rather than a flat, solid platform. 

Divan Beds have been a popular choice for many decades now, due to the storage space they provide in the form of integrated drawers. This makes them ideal for smaller items such as towels, bedding, books and shoes. 

Whilst ottoman beds provide storage space within the entire footprint of the bed, which is accessed via an easy to lift mattress platform. These are often available as either a side or end opening variant, allowing you to choose whichever type suits your bedroom layout more.  

Certainly, whilst small single beds are narrower than a single bed, they are often the same length, so are more than suitable for adults to sleep in. Their size makes them perfect for smaller bedrooms and guest rooms for friends and family who come to stay the night. Plus, due to their smaller size, they’re also a very cost effective option.

No, toddler beds aren’t the same as a small single bed. Toddler beds are smaller and usually measure around 140cm x 70cm (55in x 27.5in). Their purposes are completely different too, toddler beds are designed for children who are transitioning out of a crib into a bed for the first time and are often lower to the ground, whilst small single beds are suitable for both children and adults.
