An ottoman bed is a storage bed that’s designed with a gas-lift system. You simply lift up the lid to reveal a large storage compartment, where you can store large items such as suitcases, spare bedding and anything else you think you might need to organise.
Our ottoman bed base doesn’t include a headboard, which is ideal if you already have one. Alternatively, why not take a look at our wide range of ottoman beds with headboards and explore all the different headboard designs? We have a selection of both contemporary and traditional designs to suit various tastes.
Our ottoman beds are designed with your safety in mind. They are very safe to use from day to day, providing that they are not misused. We recommend that you always check your surroundings before lifting up the storage compartment of the ottoman bed. Check if any pets have climbed inside it and prevent children from playing on the bed.
When assembling the ottoman bed, we recommend that the screws and bolts are tight enough so they aren’t slack.
Assembling your ottoman bed is really easy - in just a few simple steps, you’ll have a comfortable sleeping solution and excellent storage space.
Step 1
Remove the outer packaging from all the components of the bed and lay them down in your chosen room where your bed will be. Before you begin, layout all the screws and bolts and keep them to one side so they don’t get misplaced during assembly.
Step 2
Place the bed bases on their side so you can see the underside. This position provides easy access to the fixing points and allows you to install the feet, joining brackets and other components more comfortably.
Step 3
Fit the feet onto the base by using a spanner (these are located inside the base).
Step 4
Align the first base so it’s in the desired position in the room.
Step 5
Repeat with the second base (ensure that the round corners are on the outside).
Step 6
Once the ottomans are open, place the bolts through the mounting holes on the pistons and into the corresponding fixing points on the bed frame.
Step 7
Tighten the bolts once they are on the pistons. We recommend that you don’t over tighten them so they have the appropriate opening resistance.
Step 8
Next, place the U-clips on the bases to join them together.
Step 9
Locate the M8 bolt and screw it to the side of the lift. Then, choose which side you want the headboard and place the screw.

While both ottoman beds and divan beds both make comfortable sleeping and efficient storage solutions, they each have their own differences. Let’s take a look at the key differences between ottoman and divan bed bases so you can discover which one is perfect for you:
Divan bed bases are designed with drawer configurations. You can choose from side drawers or a front-end drawers to get the best access to your storage when customising your own bed. Ideal for everyday storage, you can store toiletries, electronics, spare bedding and much more inside. These bed options are perfect for freeing up more floor space, helping you create a decluttered, relaxing bedroom.
Ottoman beds are designed with a gas-lift system and they have one large storage compartment. This generous storage compartment is ideal for storing larger items such as suitcases, seasonal clothes, spare blankets and much more.
Many of our ottoman bed bases have dual storage compartments (available for bed sizes 4ft small double ottoman bed and above). This is ideal for couples who’d like their own designated storage compartment to keep their things separate.
You can choose from either a side-opening ottoman bed or an end-opening ottoman bed, depending on the layout of your room and which one is best to access it.

Despite the fact that the ottoman bed offers generous internal storage, there’s some even more efficient ways to make use of the space below. Let’s take a look at some tips on what you can do to create an organised storage system in your bed:
Vacuum Packed Bags
Vacuum packed bags are a great spacing saving solution for creating more space inside the ottoman bed. Ideal for spare bedding, they can reduce the size of blankets down to more than half their size. Whether you’re living in a small apartment with limited space or you have a lot of belongings, vacuum packed bags are a great tip for freeing up the space you need.
Storage Dividers
Keep everything in its own space by using storage dividers and separate your belongings from your partner’s things. These are also great for keeping items such as electronics in one place, and spare bedding in another, as an example.
Labelled Boxes
Have you been stressed from trying to find a particular item amongst the rest of your things? We’ve all been there. Boxes with labels are a really useful tip for finding the things you need straight away whenever you open the lid of the ottoman bed.
